Show Your Handmade Jewelry Some Love: Tips For Easy Maintenance and Care
Jewelry Care Tips

If you're anything like me, you appreciate a good piece of jewelry to add some sparkle or that something extra to your outfit. It's more than just an accessory - it's a statement piece that can elevate any outfit. As a jewelry designer and creator, I know that taking care of your jewelry is essential if you want to keep it looking good for years to come.
So here are a few useful jewelry care tips that I'd like to share with you.
1 - Water and Jewelry Just Don't Mix!
Firstly, it's important to keep jewelry as dry as possible. Exposure to water can cause tarnishing and damage to metal and gemstones. So, it's best to take off your jewelry before you shower, swim, or do any other water-based activities.
2 - Store Your Jewelry Properly
When you're not wearing your jewelry, it's important to store it correctly. You can keep it in a jewelry box or pouch and store it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight or heat. This will help prevent any damage or discoloration that could occur if your jewelry is exposed to heat or light.

3 - Clean Your Jewelry Regularly
Cleaning your jewelry regularly is also essential in keeping it looking great. Perfumes, creams and lotions worn on the skin will build up on your jewelry pieces and could end up tarnishing it. A soft, dry cloth can be used to wipe down your pieces after each wear. This will remove any oils, makeup, or debris and keep your jewelry looking new.
“All you need is love. But a little jewelry never hurt anybody.”

4 - Remove Your Jewelry During Activities
It's also important to remove your jewelry before doing any activities that could damage it. For example, I always take off my pieces before exercising, cleaning or sleeping. It's better to be safe than sorry!
5 - Check Your Jewelry Regularly For Damage
Lastly, make sure to check your jewelry regularly for any damage or missing stones. If you notice any issues, it's best to get it looked at by a professional jeweler.
And remember, by extending the life of your jewelry, you are reducing waste!
Of course, taking care of your jewelry isn't just about keeping it looking good - it's also about making sure you get to enjoy wearing it for as long as possible! That means that by properly maintaining your jewelry, you're also doing your part to reduce waste and promote sustainability. It's a win-win for both you and the planet!!
